Job Description
The IT Applications Systems Specialist serves as the product owner and subject matter expert for the MEDITECH Expanse Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system. This role provides senior-level application support, system optimization, workflow improvements, and lifecycle management for clinical and administrative systems. The specialist works closely with physicians, operational leaders, and IT teams to ensure application reliability, performance, and alignment with organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities
Product Ownership
- Provide product ownership and strategic direction for MEDITECH Expanse EMR.
- Lead decision-making on system priorities, enhancements, and optimizations.
- Contribute to Application Portfolio Management (APM) and Lifecycle Management (LCM) roadmap planning.
System Support & Maintenance
- Provide daily support for application systems, primarily Meditech Expanse.
- Troubleshoot system issues and provide timely user assistance.
- Participate in the application call queue as primary support contact.
- Manage user provisioning and system enhancement requests.
- Coordinate system updates, patches, and upgrades with minimal operational disruption.
- Monitor system performance and recommend efficiency improvements.
Incident Management
- Manage and resolve system incidents.
- Escalate critical issues to vendors when necessary to maintain uptime and service quality.
- Identify recurring issues and implement long-term solutions.
Application Development & Optimization
- Participate in design, development, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of clinical and administrative applications.
- Manage and execute quality testing for projects, enhancements, and bug fixes.
- Collaborate with operational teams to optimize clinical and business workflows.
- Ensure system integration and compatibility among physician tools and application platforms.
Training & User Support
- Provide EMR utilization training for providers and healthcare professionals.
- Translate technical concepts into user-friendly guidance for clinical and business staff.
- Serve as liaison between IT and operational departments.
Data & Compliance Management
- Ensure accuracy and integrity of clinical data, including patient records.
- Support compliance with healthcare data standards and best practices.
