Job Title: Workstation Specialist

Job Summary:

The Workstation Specialist is responsible for providing technical support and maintaining the functionality and efficiency of computer workstations within an organization. This role involves troubleshooting hardware and software issues, configuring and installing workstations, and ensuring that users have access to necessary applications and resources.

Responsibilities and Duties:

1. Install, configure, and maintain computer workstations, including hardware and software components.

2. Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software issues related to workstations in a timely manner.

3. Collaborate with IT team members to identify and implement improvements to workstation performance and security.

4. Conduct regular system audits to identify any potential vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with organizational policies.

5. Provide technical assistance and end-user support, both remotely and on-site, for workstation-related inquiries.

6. Administer user accounts, permissions, and access rights to ensure proper and secure workstation usage.

7. Assist with onboarding new employees by setting up workstations according to organizational standards.

8. Collaborate with vendors and suppliers to procure necessary hardware and software components at competitive prices.

9. Stay up to date with the latest industry trends and advancements in workstation technologies.

10. Create and maintain documentation, including user guides and standard operating procedures, related to workstation setup and troubleshooting.

11. Monitor and manage workstation inventory, ensuring all equipment is properly accounted for and documented.

12. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand and address workstation-related needs and requirements.

13. Conduct regular backup and recovery processes to ensure data integrity and minimize the risk of data loss.

14. Recommend and implement security measures to protect workstations from potential threats.

15. Perform regular maintenance tasks, including updates, patches, and system optimization, to maintain workstation performance.

Qualifications and Skills:

1. Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field preferred.

2. Proven experience in workstation setup, configuration, and troubleshooting.

3. Strong knowledge of operating systems such as Windows and macOS.

4. Familiarity with network infrastructure, including TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and VPN.

5. Proficient in computer hardware and software troubleshooting techniques.

6. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues efficiently.

7. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with end-users and team members.

8. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

9. Detail-oriented with strong organizational and multitasking abilities.

10. Knowledge of IT security principles and best practices to ensure workstation protection.

11. Familiarity with scripting languages, such as PowerShell or Bash, is a plus.

12. Certifications like CompTIA A+, Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA), or similar is advantageous.

13. Experience with remote desktop support tools, ticketing systems, and endpoint management solutions.

14. Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.

15. Strong commitment to continuous learning and professional development.
