Job Title: Qualys Administrator
Job Summary:
As a Qualys Administrator, you will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and implementing the Qualys vulnerability management and scanning platform within our organization. You will oversee the configuration, administration, and maintenance of the Qualys system, ensuring a secure and well-functioning IT environment. Your role will involve analyzing vulnerability data, providing recommendations, and collaborating with cross-functional teams across the organization.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Administer and maintain Qualys vulnerability management and scanning platform.
2. Configure and schedule regular vulnerability scans to identify potential security risks.
3. Analyze scan results, interpret vulnerabilities, and provide actionable recommendations to relevant stakeholders.
4. Collaborate with other teams to remediate vulnerabilities and ensure timely resolution.
5. Manage and update asset inventory, including system information, IP ranges, geographical locations, and software details.
6. Monitor and triage incoming alerts from the Qualys system, investigating and escalating issues as necessary.
7. Develop and maintain operational procedures, standards, and guidelines for using Qualys tools.
8. Create and generate reports to communicate vulnerability status and progress to management.
9. Stay up-to-date with industry trends, emerging vulnerabilities, and security best practices.
10. Participate in audits and assessments to satisfy compliance and regulatory requirements.
11. Provide training and support to end users regarding the Qualys platform.
12. Collaborate with vendors and technical support teams to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
13. Conduct regular backups, upgrades, and patches on the Qualys infrastructure.
14. Contribute to the continuous improvement of vulnerability management processes and tools.
15. Help design, implement, and test disaster recovery procedures related to Qualys systems.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Science, Information Security, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Qualys Administrator or in a similar role.
3. Strong understanding of network security principles and vulnerability management concepts.
4. Proficient in administering and configuring Qualys vulnerability management and scanning platform.
5. Familiarity with security frameworks such as ISO 27001, NIST, or PCI-DSS.
6. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to identify and prioritize vulnerabilities.
7. Strong knowledge of different types of vulnerabilities, attack vectors, and exploitation methods.
8. Good understanding of IT infrastructure components, system architectures, and application frameworks.
9. Detail-oriented with the ability to track and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
10. Strong communication skills to interact with technical and non-technical stakeholders effectively.
11. Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
12. Familiarity with scripting languages, such as Python or PowerShell, for automation purposes.
13. Relevant certifications (e.g., Qualys Certified Specialist) are a plus.
14. Understanding of cloud-based environments and security configurations (AWS, Azure) is beneficial.
15. Knowledge of industry-standard IT frameworks, such as ITIL, is advantageous.
