Job Title: GIS Developer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated GIS Developer to join our team. As a GIS Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, testing, and maintaining GIS applications and software solutions. You will collaborate with other developers, analysts, and stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of GIS projects.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Develop and implement GIS applications, tools, and software solutions using programming languages (such as Python, JavaScript, and SQL) and GIS technologies (such as ArcGIS, QGIS, and FME).
- Create and update databases, spatial data models, and data integration processes.
- Analyze user requirements and translate them into functional GIS applications.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement GIS solutions that meet business needs.
- Troubleshoot and resolve GIS software and application issues in a timely manner.
- Conduct GIS data analysis and spatial modeling to support decision-making processes.
- Create and maintain technical documentation for GIS applications, systems, and processes.
- Stay up-to-date with GIS trends, technologies, and best practices to propose innovative solutions.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Geography, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of X years of experience in GIS development or a similar role.
- Proficiency in GIS software and technologies, such as ArcGIS, QGIS, PostGIS, and GDAL.
- Strong programming skills in languages such as Python, JavaScript, SQL, and HTML/CSS.
- Solid understanding of GIS principles, spatial databases, and geospatial data formats (e.g., shapefiles, GeoJSON, KML).
- Experience with web mapping frameworks (e.g., Leaflet, OpenLayers) and RESTful APIs.
- Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and meet project deadlines.
