Job Title: Kong Developer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a talented and innovative Kong Developer to join our dynamic team. As a Kong Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining our Kong API gateway infrastructure. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the smooth integration of our microservices and APIs. Your expertise in Kong API gateway configuration, troubleshooting, and performance optimizations will be instrumental in delivering scalable and robust solutions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Design, develop, and maintain Kong API gateway infrastructure to support our microservices architecture.
2. Collaborate with stakeholders to understand and define API gateway requirements.
3. Configure Kong plugins, custom authentication, and authorization mechanisms to ensure secure and efficient API gateways.
4. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate microservices and APIs into the Kong gateway.
5. Troubleshoot and resolve performance issues, API gateway bottlenecks, and connectivity problems.
6. Implement monitoring and logging solutions to ensure high availability and reliability of the Kong infrastructure.
7. Develop and maintain scripts and automation tools for managing Kong gateway deployments.
8. Stay updated with the latest trends and best practices in Kong API gateway technologies.
9. Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to team members.
10. Collaborate with DevOps engineers to ensure seamless deployment and integration of the Kong gateway with CI/CD pipelines.
11. Document technical specifications, installation guides, and troubleshooting procedures.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience as a Kong Developer or API Developer, with a solid understanding of API gateway concepts and architecture.
3. Strong proficiency in Kong API gateway administration, configuration, and troubleshooting.
4. Hands-on experience with scripting languages like Lua and programming languages like Python or JavaScript.
5. Proficient in managing microservices in a containerized environment using Docker and Kubernetes.
6. In-depth knowledge of RESTful API design principles, OpenAPI specifications, and authentication/authorization mechanisms.
7. Familiarity with API gateway plugins, rate limiting, circuit breaking, request/response transformation, and load balancing.
8. Experience with continuous integration and delivery pipelines (CI/CD) tools like Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI.
9. Solid understanding of infrastructure-as-code concepts and tools like Terraform or Ansible.
10. Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work well under minimal supervision.
11. Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
