Identify and address Vulnerabilities at an architect/platform-type level
As a Vulnerability Consultant, you will be responsible for identifying, assessing, and mitigating vulnerabilities within various systems, networks, and applications. Your expertise will play a crucial role in safeguarding sensitive information and protecting against potential cyber threats. This position requires a strong understanding of security principles, the ability to dissect complex systems, and the aptitude to develop effective remediation strategies.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct comprehensive vulnerability assessments and penetration tests to identify potential security weaknesses.
2. Analyze vulnerability reports and recommend appropriate steps to mitigate risks and address identified vulnerabilities.
3. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement robust security measures in new and existing systems.
4. Develop vulnerability management strategies, policies, and procedures to ensure timely resolution of identified issues.
5. Stay up-to-date with the latest security trends, threats, and technologies to continually enhance vulnerability management capabilities.
6. Perform technical risk assessments and provide recommendations for risk reduction through remediation activities.
7. Conduct security awareness training and guidance to educate stakeholders on best practices for vulnerability management.
8. Collaborate with incident response teams to investigate potential security breaches and provide forensic analysis as needed.
9. Assist in the development and testing of security controls, protocols, and tools.
10. Document vulnerabilities, assessments, and remediation activities in a clear and concise manner.
11. Keep track of assigned projects, ensuring timely completion within the defined scope.
12. Act as a subject matter expert on vulnerability scanning tools and security assessment techniques.
13. Continuously assess existing security frameworks and provide recommendations to optimize vulnerability management processes.
14. Assist in the evaluation and selection of security products and vendors to support vulnerability management initiatives.
15. Contribute to the overall maturity and effectiveness of vulnerability management programs.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, or a related field.
2. Relevant certifications such as Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), or Offensive Security Certified Professional (OSCP).
3. Proven experience in vulnerability assessment, penetration testing, and vulnerability management.
4. Strong understanding of network architecture, protocols, and security principles.
5. Familiarity with common security frameworks (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
6. Proficiency in using vulnerability scanning tools (e.g., Nessus, OpenVAS, Qualys) and related technologies.
7. Solid understanding of common vulnerabilities (e.g., SQL injection, cross-site scripting, buffer overflow).
8. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills to uncover potential risks and vulnerabilities.
9. Strong communication skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and convey complex security concepts.
10. Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment.
11. Attention to detail and ability to thoroughly document findings and recommendations.
12. Familiarity with regulatory compliance, such as GDPR or HIPAA, is desirable.
13. Experience in cloud security and penetration testing (AWS, Azure) is a plus.
14. Knowledge of secure coding practices and software development lifecycle is advantageous.
15. Passion for staying updated with emerging threats and industry best practices.
