Job Title: Cobol / Mainframe Developer
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Cobol / Mainframe Developer to join our team and contribute to the development and maintenance of our mainframe software applications. As a knowledgeable developer, you will be responsible for analyzing user requirements, designing and coding programs, debugging, and conducting system testing. Your expertise in Cobol and Mainframe technologies will be crucial in ensuring the reliability and efficiency of our software solutions.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Collaborate with business analysts and software architects to understand user requirements and develop software specifications.
- Design, code, test, and maintain efficient and reliable programs using Cobol and Mainframe technologies.
- Debug programs and identify and resolve software defects.
- Modify and enhance existing programs while adhering to coding standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful integration of software components.
- Conduct thorough unit testing and participate in system and integration testing to ensure high-quality deliverables.
- Perform performance tuning and optimization of software applications.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation related to software design and functionality.
- Stay updated with the latest Cobol and Mainframe technologies and tools, and identify opportunities for process improvement.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field.
- Proven working experience as a Cobol / Mainframe Developer.
- In-depth knowledge of Cobol programming language and its mainframe environments.
- Proficiency in working with IBM mainframe systems, such as z/OS and MVS.
- Familiarity with databases like DB2 or IMS DB.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
