As part of the Platform Engineering organization, you will serve as a key resource for Harness platform administration, pipeline support, developer onboarding, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement efforts. You will work closely with application teams, security partners, and platform stakeholders to ensure a reliable and consistent deployment experience across the enterprise.

The ideal candidate is passionate about DevOps, automation, developer enablement, and operational excellence, with experience supporting enterprise CI/CD platforms and driving adoption of best practices.

Role Summary

As a Cloud Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to support, maintain, and continuously improve the enterprise Harness CI/CD platform. You will assist application teams in designing, implementing, and troubleshooting CI/CD pipelines while ensuring platform stability, security, compliance, and an exceptional developer experience.

You will act as a subject matter expert for Harness, helping teams adopt standardized deployment practices and providing operational support for pipeline execution, platform capabilities, integrations, and governance.

Responsibilities

  • Administer, support, and maintain the enterprise Harness CI/CD platform to ensure high availability, reliability, and performance.
  • Provide day-to-day support for application teams utilizing Harness pipelines, including troubleshooting build, deployment, configuration, and integration issues.
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance standardized Harness pipeline templates and reusable components that promote consistency and reduce onboarding effort.
  • Partner with development teams to onboard applications and services to Harness, providing technical guidance, best practices, and hands-on support throughout adoption.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve pipeline failures, deployment issues, and platform-related incidents, conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive improvements.
  • Collaborate with security, compliance, and DevOps stakeholders to incorporate required controls, approvals, and auditability into CI/CD workflows.
  • Support integrations between Harness and enterprise tools including source control systems, artifact repositories, testing platforms, security scanning tools, ITSM solutions, and monitoring platforms.
  • Monitor platform health, pipeline execution trends, and operational metrics to proactively identify opportunities for optimization and improvement.
  • Create and maintain technical documentation, knowledge articles, runbooks, and onboarding materials to improve platform usability and self-service capabilities.
  • Communicate platform updates, enhancement opportunities, known issues, and best practices to development teams and stakeholders.
  • Participate in platform governance activities, ensuring adherence to established standards, security requirements, and deployment processes.
  • Assist in evaluating new Harness capabilities and features, recommending improvements that enhance developer productivity and platform efficiency.
  • Serve as a technical liaison between application teams and platform engineering, helping translate business and delivery requirements into CI/CD solutions.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on automation, operational excellence, developer experience, and CI/CD maturity across the organization.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting enterprise CI/CD platforms, preferably Harness.
  • Strong understanding of software delivery lifecycle (SDLC) and DevOps practices.
  • Experience troubleshooting pipeline, deployment, and integration issues.
  • Familiarity with Git-based source control systems and branching strategies.
  • Experience integrating CI/CD tools with security scanning, artifact repositories, and change management processes.
  • Strong communication and customer support skills with the ability to work directly with application teams.
  • Experience creating technical documentation, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks.
  • Ability to manage multiple support requests while driving long-term platform improvements.
  • Knowledge of cloud and infrastructure concepts is preferred but not required.

This role is ideal for an engineer who enjoys enabling development teams, solving CI/CD challenges, improving platform adoption, and supporting the ongoing success of the Harness ecosystem across Cardinal Health.
