Senior Java Full Stack Developer – Azure

Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Senior Java Full Stack Developer with strong expertise in Java, Spring Boot, microservices, and Microsoft Azure to join our technology team in Chicago, IL.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience designing and developing scalable enterprise applications, building RESTful APIs and microservices, and deploying cloud-native solutions on Azure. Experience in the banking or financial services domain is highly preferred.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
• Develop cloud-native microservices and RESTful APIs using modern Java technologies.
• Build and deploy applications on Microsoft Azure cloud services.
• Develop event-driven and distributed applications using Kafka and other messaging technologies.
• Work with Azure services such as AKS, Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, Key Vault, and Azure Storage.
• Design and implement secure, highly available, and scalable application architectures.
• Develop database-driven applications using SQL and relational databases.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Containerize applications using Docker and deploy/manage workloads in Kubernetes/Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS).
• Write unit and integration tests using JUnit, Mockito, and related testing frameworks.
• Troubleshoot application, performance, integration, and production issues.
• Participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and Agile development activities.
• Collaborate with architects, business analysts, QA engineers, DevOps teams, and other stakeholders.
• Follow secure coding, DevOps, TDD, and software engineering best practices.

Required Skills

• 8+ years of experience in Java/J2EE software development.
• Strong hands-on experience with Java 8/11/17/21.
• Strong experience with Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, and Microservices.
• Extensive experience developing RESTful APIs.
• Strong experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application development.
• Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and/or Azure App Services.
• Strong experience with Kafka and event-driven architecture.
• Experience with Docker and Kubernetes.
• Strong SQL and database development experience.
• Experience with CI/CD and DevOps practices.
• Experience with Git, Azure DevOps, GitHub, Jenkins, or similar tools.
• Strong experience with JUnit, Mockito, and automated testing.
• Understanding of distributed systems, concurrency, scalability, and performance tuning.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in banking, financial services, investment management, or other regulated environments.
• Experience with Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, Cosmos DB, Key Vault, and Application Insights.
• Experience with Spring Cloud and cloud-native design patterns.
• Experience with Kafka Streams and asynchronous processing.
• Experience with observability tools such as Dynatrace, Grafana, Prometheus, or Azure Monitor.
• Experience with Agile/Scrum and DevSecOps environments.
• Azure certifications are a plus.
