Job Title: GKE SME – Tanzu/PCF to GKE Migration
Location – Remote
Long Term Contract 

Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled GKE SME with deep expertise in cloud-native platforms, container orchestration, and enterprise-grade migrations. The primary responsibility is to lead and execute the migration of existing applications and workloads from VMware Tanzu / Pivotal Cloud Foundry (PCF) to Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE). The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on Kubernetes experience, Google Cloud proficiency, and a solid understanding of application modernization best practices.

Key Responsibilities

Migration & Architecture

  • Lead end-to-end migration from Tanzu/PCF to GKE, including assessments, planning, execution, and validation.
  • Design target-state GKE architecture, including cluster configuration, node pools, autoscaling, networking, and IAM.
  • Modernize existing PCF workloads for containerization and Kubernetes compatibility.
  • Develop migration playbooks, strategies, and best practices.

Containerization & Deployment

  • Containerize PCF applications using Docker and optimize images for GKE deployment.
  • Build CI/CD pipelines using Cloud Build, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or Tekton.
  • Implement service mesh, API gateways, and cloud-native networking as required.

Cloud Engineering & Operations

  • Configure and manage GKE clusters, including monitoring, logging, scaling, and upgrades.
  • Implement GCP services such as Cloud SQL, Pub/Sub, VPC, Load Balancers, Cloud IAM, Secret Manager, etc.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and governance alignment of workloads migrated to GKE.
  • Troubleshoot production issues related to Kubernetes, networking, and application runtime.

Automation & SRE Practices

  • Use IaC tools like Terraform or Google Deployment Manager for cluster provisioning.
  • Implement observability using Cloud Logging, Cloud Monitoring, Prometheus, Grafana, etc.
  • Drive SRE principles—SLIs, SLOs, capacity planning, resilience engineering.
