Job Title: IT Technical Business Analyst
Location: Edmonton, Alberta (Remote with occasional on-site meetings)
Duration: 6-Month Contract (Possible Extension)
About the Role
The Registries Modernization Team is driving a major digital transformation initiative to modernize Alberta’s registry systems. This includes a complete redesign of the Land Titles Registry, replacing legacy applications with cloud-based, user-centered, and agile digital services.
We are seeking an Intermediate IT Technical Business Analyst to play a key role in bridging business needs with technical solutions—supporting the modernization of one of Alberta’s most critical public registries.
Key Responsibilities
o Facilitate workshops and walkthroughs to identify goals, pain points, and business process gaps.
o Conduct gap analysis between current legacy systems and proposed modern solutions.
o Develop and maintain user stories, personas, journey maps, use cases, and process flow diagrams.
o Validate requirements and specifications with subject matter experts.
o Collaborate with technical teams to translate business needs into functional IT solutions.
o Support User Acceptance Testing (UAT) — create test plans, manage validation, and ensure alignment with defined criteria.
o Support training and change management activities for new system rollouts.
o Evaluate implemented solutions through post-implementation reviews.
o Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and backlog refinement.
o Liaise with security and privacy teams to conduct Threat Risk Assessments and Privacy Impact Assessments.
o Ensure compliance with all legislative and regulatory requirements under the Land Titles Act.
o Assist in project planning, scheduling, and reporting.
o Participate in agile ceremonies and contribute to sprint goals.
