Position: Calypso Java Consultant (Support & Development Experience)

Duration: Long Term Contract

Schedule:

• 3 days onsite in NYC
• ~8:00 AM EST start time to overlap with India support turnover

Position Details: The client is seeking a consultant to join the Derivatives Trading team as a Calypso OTC Trading Platform Developer. This role will be part of the IM Operations IT team, responsible for developing, enhancing, and supporting the Calypso platform (currently on v16), while ensuring smooth integration with upstream reference systems and downstream applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance, and customize the Calypso derivatives trading platform.
• Lead and support Calypso upgrades and integrations with internal systems.
• Design and implement high-quality platform solutions and interfaces with multiple MSIM systems.
• Collaborate with business stakeholders (traders, trade support, operations) to gather requirements and deliver solutions.
• Provide technical support and ensure stability of the trading platform.

Required Qualifications

• 8+ years of overall IT experience, with at least 5+ years in Calypso Development.
• Strong expertise in Calypso platform development, customization, and version upgrades.
• Advanced Java EE development background with solid knowledge of the Spring Framework.
• Proficiency in SQL, database design, and stored procedure development.
• Experience in Unix/Linux environments (basic commands, scripting in Shell/Perl/Python).
• Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to translate technical designs into practical solutions.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work closely with global teams.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with source code management tools (Git, Perforce, CVS).
• Familiarity with DevOps tools: Jenkins, Sonar, Jira.
• Knowledge of financial technologies such as FpML and SWIFT protocol.
• Background in investment management / derivatives trading systems.
