Job Description

Role: Tandem/HP NonStop Engineer

Location: Remote (Berkeley Heights, NJ)

Long Term Contract – W2 / C2C

Core Skills & Experience:

• 7+ years of software development in enterprise environments, preferably large financial institutions, banks, or payment systems.
• Strong hands-on experience with Tandem / HP NonStop systems (critical for transaction processing environments).
• Proficiency in COBOL and TAL (Transaction Application Language) development.
• Prior experience designing, developing, and maintaining large-scale, mission-critical applications (e.g., high-volume transaction processing).
• Solid knowledge of data replication and synchronization tools — especially Shadowbase or Oracle GoldenGate.
• Strong problem-solving and debugging skills in complex legacy systems.
• Ability to work in cross-functional teams with business and technology stakeholders.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.

Additional Nice-to-Have Skills:

• Familiarity with fault-tolerant systems and high availability architectures.
• Experience in financial services, payments, or capital markets (since Tandem/HP NonStop is widely used there).
• Knowledge of SQL/Enscribe database environments on Tandem systems.
• Good understanding of system performance tuning, troubleshooting, and production support.
