Role: Maximo Database Administrator (DBA)

Location: Washington, DC  (Hybrid/ 3 days onsite)

6-12+ Months Contract

Overview:

We are seeking a highly experienced Maximo Database Administrator to support and maintain IBM Maximo 7.6 (or higher) within a hybrid cloud/on-premise environment. This role will be responsible for the performance, security, integrations, upgrades, and compliance of Maximo databases, including integration with systems like PeopleSoft, Optram, FleetWatch, and Microsoft Power Platform.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer and maintain Maximo databases in both cloud (Azure/OCI) and on-prem environments.
• Support integrations with third-party platforms: PeopleSoft/ERP, FleetWatch, PPG, Optram, Windchill, Microsoft Power Platform, etc.
• Optimize database performance using tools such as Azure Monitor, Oracle Performance Hub, etc.
• Develop and support Maximo Integration Framework (MIF) workflows and data migrations.
• Manage Oracle (12c/18c) and SQL Server databases, including backup, disaster recovery (DR), and high availability (HA).
• Implement and enforce cybersecurity and regulatory compliance across all database environments.
• Design and implement automation for administrative tasks using PL/SQL, Python, PowerShell, or IaC tools like Terraform and Ansible.
• Support Maximo upgrades, patching, and customizations, ensuring compatibility with underlying databases.
• Participate in audits, performance tuning, and maintain documentation and knowledge base.

Required Qualifications:

• 7–10 years of experience in Database Asset Management, preferably in transit or enterprise environments.
• In-depth expertise with IBM Maximo 7.6+, including Asset Configuration Manager, Transportation add-ons, and Mobile modules.
• Strong experience in Oracle Database Administration, including Data Guard, RAC, Golden Gate, and Active Data Guard.
• Experience with Oracle Exadata and cloud-native databases like Azure SQL DB, OCI, or Autonomous DB.
• Expertise in data migration, data archiving, and Maximo table structures and metadata.
• Solid understanding of cloud-to-on-prem integrations, disaster recovery strategies, and real-time synchronization.
• Knowledge of Maximo custom scripting, reporting tools, and TRM Rules Manager.

Preferred Skills:

• Certifications: IBM Certified Deployment Professional – Maximo, Oracle OCP, Azure DBA Associate.
• Familiarity with transit systems: GOTRS, RPM, InspectTech, Remstar/PPG.
• Proficiency in PL/SQL, Linux Administration, and integration with Microsoft Power Platform.
• Experience in database migrations to cloud, HA/DR setup, and automation of routine DBA tasks.
• Strong documentation, mentoring, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

 What to Look for in Candidates:

1. Maximo Expertise
• Experience with Maximo 7.6 or higher (must).
• Familiar with Maximo’s Integration Framework (MIF), data structure, and scripting.
• Involvement in full-cycle Maximo upgrades and migrations.
2. Cloud & On-Prem DBA Experience
• Administered hybrid environments (Oracle/SQL in Azure or OCI).
• Familiar with HA, DR, cloud-native monitoring tools, and autoscaling.
3. Integration Know-How
• Hands-on with systems like PeopleSoft, Optram, Power Platform.
• Strong troubleshooting skills for integrated platforms.
4. Security & Compliance Focus
• Experience implementing access control, encryption, and compliance protocols.
5. Performance & Automation
• Skilled in performance tuning, automation (Terraform/Ansible/PowerShell), and proactive monitoring.
6. Communication & Collaboration
1. Can work with IT Ops, Security, and Business teams effectively.
