The Compliance Specialist ensures that an organization operates within legal, regulatory, and ethical standards. This role involves monitoring policies, conducting audits, providing training, and supporting risk management activities to ensure compliance with internal procedures and external requirements.
Monitor and interpret regulatory changes impacting the organization (HIPAA, OSHA, SOX, GDPR, etc. depending on industry).
Develop, implement, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, and programs.
Conduct internal audits and compliance reviews to identify risks and gaps.
Investigate compliance issues and recommend corrective actions.
Prepare compliance reports for management and regulatory bodies.
Provide training and guidance to employees on compliance policies, ethical standards, and reporting mechanisms.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (legal, HR, operations, IT, finance) to ensure adherence to compliance standards.
Maintain proper documentation and ensure timely filing of regulatory requirements.
Support risk assessment and mitigation strategies.
Assist in responding to regulatory inquiries or external audits.
Bachelorโs degree in Business, Law, Finance, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
2โ5 years of compliance, auditing, or regulatory experience.
Certification preferred (e.g., CCEP โ Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional, CHC โ Certified in Healthcare Compliance).
Strong knowledge of industry-specific regulations.
Excellent knowledge of compliance laws and regulatory frameworks.
Strong analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills.
High attention to detail with organizational and documentation skills.
Strong communication and training abilities.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.
Corporate office, healthcare system, financial institution, or regulatory-focused organization.
Primarily office-based, may include hybrid/remote depending on employer.
Collaboration with compliance, legal, HR, and executive leadership teams.
