We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Construction Materials Department Manager to lead and oversee the operations of our construction materials testing and inspection division. This role requires a strong technical background in construction materials, exceptional leadership skills, and a deep understanding of industry standards and project requirements. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing personnel, resources, quality assurance, and client relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage daily operations of the construction materials department, including field and lab testing services
Oversee a team of technicians, engineers, and administrative staff
Ensure all testing and reporting meets project specifications, industry standards, and accreditation requirements (e.g., ASTM, AASHTO, ACI)
Coordinate with clients, contractors, and project managers to ensure timely and accurate project deliverables
Maintain and improve quality control procedures and safety standards
Develop and manage department budgets, staffing plans, and resource allocation
Support business development and client retention efforts
Provide training, mentoring, and performance evaluations for department personnel
Ensure compliance with environmental, safety, and regulatory guidelines

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Materials Science, or related field
5+ years of experience in construction materials testing and inspection, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or management role
Relevant certifications (e.g., ACI, NICET, ASTM, or state-specific certifications) preferred
Strong understanding of geotechnical, concrete, soil, asphalt, and aggregate materials testing
Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously
Proficient in reporting software, data analysis, and documentation practices
