The Electrical Studies Engineer is responsible for conducting advanced power system studies including load flow, short circuit, arc flash, and protection coordination. This role supports the design, analysis, and optimization of electrical infrastructure for utilities, industrial facilities, and commercial power systems.
Perform electrical system studies such as load flow, short circuit, arc flash hazard, motor starting, and transient stability
Use specialized software tools (e.g., ETAP, SKM Power Tools, EasyPower, PSCAD) for modeling and analysis
Develop one-line diagrams, relay coordination, and protection settings
Review electrical system designs for compliance with industry standards (IEEE, NEC, NFPA, NESC)
Prepare technical reports, study documentation, and client presentations
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including design, operations, and maintenance personnel
Assist in troubleshooting power system issues and recommending mitigation strategies
Support commissioning, field testing, and validation of electrical systems as needed
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (Power Systems emphasis preferred)
3–7 years of experience in power system studies or utility/industrial electrical engineering
Proficiency in ETAP, SKM, or other simulation software
Strong knowledge of power distribution, protection systems, and electrical codes
PE license (Professional Engineer) preferred or ability to obtain
Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills
