The ITAM Practice Leader is responsible for defining, developing, and leading the organization's IT Asset Management strategy and operations. This role ensures end-to-end lifecycle management of IT assets (hardware, software, cloud subscriptions, and licenses) with a focus on compliance, cost control, risk reduction, and operational efficiency.
Develop and lead the ITAM strategy, governance model, and operating framework across the enterprise.
Oversee the acquisition, deployment, tracking, maintenance, and retirement of IT assets.
Implement and manage ITAM tools and platforms (e.g., ServiceNow, Flexera, SNOW, Ivanti).
Ensure software license compliance and optimize software usage to reduce unnecessary spend.
Collaborate with procurement, security, finance, legal, and IT operations to align asset policies and procedures.
Lead internal audits, risk assessments, and software true-ups for compliance with vendors.
Define KPIs, reporting dashboards, and continuous improvement metrics for asset health and lifecycle tracking.
Provide leadership to ITAM teams and mentor asset analysts or coordinators.
Stay current with ITAM and SAM best practices, ISO standards (e.g., ISO/IEC 19770), and industry regulations.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business, or a related field
Certifications (preferred):
Certified IT Asset Manager (CITAM)
Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM)
ITIL Foundation
Experience: 7+ years of ITAM/SAM experience, including 3+ years in a leadership role
Proficient with asset discovery, CMDBs, license reconciliation, and vendor negotiations
Strong understanding of hardware, software, SaaS, and cloud asset management principles
Excellent analytical, leadership, and cross-functional communication skills
