Job Title: Specialist, Cost Accounting
Job Summary: The Specialist, Cost Accounting is responsible for analyzing and monitoring all costs associated with the organization's operations. This includes assessing the cost-effectiveness of production processes, identifying areas for cost savings, and ensuring accurate financial reporting.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Analyze and report on the costs of production, raw materials, and labor.
2. Evaluate existing processes to identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements.
3. Monitor and report on variances in production costs and provide recommendations for corrective action.
4. Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure cost accounting accuracy and compliance with regulations.
5. Participate in the budgeting and forecasting process, providing insights on cost projections.
6. Assist in developing and implementing cost accounting policies and procedures.
7. Prepare and present financial reports to management, highlighting key cost drivers and performance metrics.
8. Collaborate with external auditors to ensure accurate financial reporting.
9. Stay current on industry trends and best practices in cost accounting.
10. Perform ad-hoc analysis and projects as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
2. 3+ years of experience in cost accounting or related field.
3. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
4. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
5. Knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
8. CPA or CMA certification preferred.
9. Experience in manufacturing or production environment a plus.
