Job Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Software Asset Management Specialist to join our team at the Business Software Alliance. As an integral part of our organization, you will be responsible for ensuring compliance and optimizing software utilization for our member companies. Your role will involve assessing, managing, and maintaining software licenses, effectively managing software assets, and providing expert advice to help maximize software investments for our clients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct software asset management audits to identify potential non-compliance issues.
2. Collaborate with member companies to develop and implement effective software asset management strategies.
3. Evaluate and analyze software licensing agreements to ensure compliance and optimize costs.
4. Provide guidance and expertise regarding software asset management tools and best practices.
5. Develop and maintain accurate software inventories and license compliance documentation.
6. Establish policies and procedures to ensure efficient software asset management processes.
7. Develop and deliver software asset management training programs to educate member companies on compliance regulations.
8. Collaborate with software vendors to negotiate and manage licensing agreements.
9. Stay updated on industry trends and changes in software licensing regulations.
10. Conduct regular internal audits to ensure software asset management processes are being followed.
11. Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders within member companies, providing ongoing support and guidance.
12. Assist with risk assessments related to software licensing and intellectual property rights.
13. Collaborate with IT teams to implement and monitor software deployment and usage tracking systems.
14. Generate reports and analytics on software asset utilization, compliance, and cost optimization.
15. Continuously identify areas for improvement and implement innovative solutions to enhance software asset management practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in software asset management, software licensing, or related roles.
3. In-depth knowledge of software licensing agreements and compliance regulations.
4. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to find creative solutions.
5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with stakeholders.
6. Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
7. Proficiency in software asset management tools and technologies.
8. Knowledge of cloud-based software licensing models and virtualization technologies.
9. Familiarity with software asset management frameworks and industry best practices.
10. Strong negotiation skills and ability to build and maintain relationships with software vendors.
11. Understanding of IT infrastructure and software deployment methodologies.
12. Familiarity with software auditing procedures and techniques.
13. Ability to adapt to changing software licensing regulations and compliance requirements.
14. Certifications such as Certified Software Asset Manager (CSAM) or Certified Software Manager (CSM) are preferred.
