Job Title: Power Utility SCADA SME
Job Summary:
The Power Utility SCADA SME is responsible for the design, implementation, and maintenance of supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems used in the power utility industry. They will provide subject matter expertise and support related to SCADA systems, networks, and communication protocols used in power generation, transmission, and distribution.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Design and implement SCADA systems to meet the operational needs of power utility companies
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and maintain SCADA network infrastructure
- Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to SCADA systems, hardware, and software applications
- Implement network security protocols to protect SCADA systems from cyber threats
- Develop and maintain system documentation including manuals, schematics, and user guides
- Provide technical support for power utility operations and maintenance teams
- Manage vendor relationships and participate in contract negotiations for SCADA system and equipment purchases
- Conduct research and stay up-to-date on emerging trends in SCADA technology and industry best practices
Qualifications and Skills:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in SCADA system design, implementation, and maintenance in the power utility industry
- Proficient in SCADA hardware and software applications, including GE, ABB, and Siemens systems
- Knowledgeable about network infrastructure and communication protocols used in the power utility industry, including IEC 61850, Modbus, and DNP3
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams
- Ability to manage projects and effectively prioritize tasks to meet project deadlines
